It's important to know in advance what you are going to eat during the day and to stick to the plan, and if you keep these 4 rules in mind, you'll be well on your way to a healthier, happier, slimmer you.

plan your day ahead. Know what you are going to eat during the day and purchase foods according to that. Remember, no added extras!

be realistic. If you are have a dinner date and you know that it might be difficult to choose foods that fit into your eating plan, don't stress. Eat according to your usual plan during the day and enjoy the evening. Do not starve yourself! If you do, you might have less control when you are out and you might end up eating more kilojoules. You can cut down on amounts eaten.

never skip a meal. Feel free to eat less than the suggested quantities or weight according to your own activities and needs, but always eat your regular meals and snacks. Skipping a meal can lead to overindulgence at the next meal.

choose your foods carefully. Always buy low fat options, steer clear of saturated fats (animal fats) and avoid refined carbohydrates - foods with high GI and everything made with white flour, lots of sugar and foods low in fibre.
